The property is a 30-minute drive to Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
Kandyan Art Association & Cultural Centre and Kandy Museum are within 1.9 km away, while Bandaranaike International Airport is approximately 118 km from Sky Pavilion.

The luxury villa is designed to maximize the advantages of the elevation, creating a magical space that gives a feeling of being up among the clouds, hence the tagline, “Clouds for company”.

The living areas of the house are on three levels, and contain four bedrooms with attached bathrooms, lounge, dining hall, and three open decks, all with enchanting views spanning parts of three districts.
The house is furnished simply and comfortably in a muted colour scheme which complements the glorious cloud canvas outside.

The interesting lighting system was inspired by the starlit night sky and bright pinpricks of light from the valley in the evenings.
All rooms are air-conditioned. Green thinking takes precedence here.
The house is powered by solar panels and features a net meter capable of adding surplus energy to the national grid.

The LED lights used throughout the house seek to minimize our carbon footprint.
The height that creates the views and moods comes with the necessity for climbing, and is therefore not recommended to those for whom steps can be a challenge, as the building has no wheelchair access.

Our doctor stays on call at all times.

Area Info

Just a hundred kilometers north east of Colombo in a valley ringed by protective tall peaks nestles Sri Lanka's hill capital and most beautiful city. 488 meters above sea level, Kandy enjoys a cooler climate to the resorts on the beaches.

Kandy was the last stronghold of the Sinhala kings. The glory of the past is still manifest in the splendid audience chamber, palace and court-yards.
The focal point of Kandy, however, is the golden roofed Dalada Maligawa the sacred Temple of the Tooth, containing the Tooth Relic of the Buddha, Sri Lanka's most important religious relic. There are daily ceremonies of homage to the Tooth Relic, each attracting pilgrims.

The laidback "capital" of the hill country and the historical bastion of Buddhist power is built around a peaceful lake. It has a distinctive architectural character, thanks to its gently sloping tiled roofs. The town center is a delightful compendium of old shops, noise, buses, markets and hotels.

Every year in August or late July, depending on the phases of the moon a replica of the Relic is taken in procession round the city accompanied by exotically costumed dancers, drummers and over 80 elephants. The event marks one of the most spectacular pageants in Sri Lanka, the Kandy Perahera.

Visit Kalapuraya in the beautiful Dumbara Valley eight kilometers from Kandy, where descendants of the ancient craftsmen still create items of rare elegance in metal and wood. There are many shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, wood and stone carvings.

Just four miles away from Kandy, at Peradeniya, is the home of the world famous Royal Botanical Gardens - the most beautiful in the world and begun as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala King. Every variety tropical and temperate tree and flower is cultivated here and special houses with orchids and cacti are too beautiful to be true.

Kandy is an exciting place for shopping with souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony and bronze. Ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware can also be purchased. The Kandyan Art Association & Cultural Centre beside the lake has good displays of local crafts and an auditorium for popular dance performances.

Restaurants (Eat and Drink)

Dining
Meals are kept simple and satisfying at Sky Pavilion. Being a small establishment makes it easy to cater to each guest’s personal preference.

The menu contains simple Sri Lankan and western dishes. Fresh ingredients are sourced from nearby farmers and local markets. Our cheerful house cook Justin has won praise for his Sri Lankan dishes that maintain the freshness, colour and taste of the ingredients.

The long rustic table in the dining hall seats up to 11, and the bar and stools provide additional seating with a view. We do not possess a license for liquor, but do feel free to bring your own.

Use the L shaped deck adjoining the lounge for an al fresco dining experience; breakfast serenaded by birdsong or romantic candle-lit dinner under the stars. A barbeque dinner could be served on the deck for groups of six or more.

Justin will be happy to give you an introduction to the spice cupboard and how he blends the contents in to Sri Lankan dishes. Try your hand at whipping up your own masterpiece with tips from Justin and ask him to take you along the market visit to select the ingredients, for a richer experience.

Additional information

The four bedrooms are different from each other in size and the amenities they offer, having unique character and their own particular advantages. Each room is named after a star constellation, in keeping with the Sky Pavilion theme.

All rooms are air-conditioned. The well-designed attached bathrooms are equipped with hot water, rain showers and hairdryers. Mini fridge, locker, tea/coffee making facilities, piped music and Wi-Fi access are other conveniences available in the rooms.

There are two adjoining rooms on the first level. Two rooms on the upper level open out to the Sky Deck. Common to all rooms are the stunning views spanning over 180 degrees, accessible from large picture windows.

Andromeda
Andromeda is a spacious and comfortably furnished room which can be used as a triple room.
It’s also ideal for a family.
The room was named for the Andromeda constellation.
Andromeda represents the beautiful Princess in Greek mythology who was rescued from being sacrificed to a monster, by hero Perseus. This room, is tastefully furnished in period feel furniture, in homage to Andromeda’s beauty.

Cygnus is the name given to the luxurious double room on the 1st Level.

The name of the room was inspired by the constellation Cygnus, meaning swan, for the association with romance.
Constellation Cygnus represents the swan form adopted by the amorous Greek God Zeus in his romantic escapades.
Swans of our own local literature are birds that love luxury and mate for life, who symbolize the happy couple state.
